We're in Uganda!!

Hello,

It's time for Eric's annual blog update ;-)

I'd like to say that I'll write more this time around, but we'll see what happens!

Jas and I are in Uganda at the moment. We just got here on Monday, but have already traveled into the field where we will be helping with the distribution of bed nets in six different communities.

Yesterday, we ran a training workshop with 15 local health and youth leaders who will assist us with the distribution. It was great to interact with the local workers. They seemed passionate about their communities and committed to fighting the spread of malaria. It also gave us a chance to learn more about the area where we are working - Gulu, which has been marred by civil violence up until last year. In fact, many of the residents here have only recently returned to their homes, after spending several years living in camps for internally displaced people.

Tomorrow is our first distribution day. Let's hope it goes well and that we will learn much from our experience.
